The Olney Central men's and women's basketball teams will load up and head east across the river to take on the Trailblazers of Vincennes University Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Knights will get things started off as they take on a 19-7 Vincennes team that currently sits in second place in Region 24 play with a 10-1 region mark. Their only loss came at the hands of the undefeated Southwestern Illinos Blue Storm. OCC fell to the Trailblazers back in January by a score of 81-46. The Lady Knights are currently 14-12 overall on the season with a 7-5 region record.
The Lady Trailblazers are led in scoring by Sophomore Center Dženifera Rieksta. Rieksta averages 12.6 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds. Sophomores Zion Hayes (12.1 ppg and 6.5 rpg) and Netala Dixon (10.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg) are both also averagin double figures for the Trailblazers. VU has won 5 straight and are 10-1 in 2026.
The OCC Blue Knights will come into the P.E. Complex looking knock off the 10th ranked Trailblazers. The VU men are coming off a stunning upset in Centralia where the Trailblazers fell to Kaskaskia 86-74. It was only there second loss in the last fourteen games. The Blue Knights are looking to change their tide and get some momentum heading into postseason play. Vincenness is led by three players averagin double figures. Drae Vasser (16.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 6.0 apg), Dayton Williams (16.1 ppg, 8.,0 rpg) and Jalen Calloway 13.0 ppg).
The women's game will tip-off at 4:00 CST and the men's game will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
